Guidelines

The following guidelines are intended to preserve the sanctity, harmony, and spiritual atmosphere of Lakshmi Narayan Mandir. They represent a shared responsibility for all devotees, visitors, volunteers, and staff, ensuring that conduct within the Mandir reflects reverence, dignity, and mutual respect.

Devotee Code of Conduct

1. Enter with Reverence

The Mandir is a sacred space. Devotees are requested to enter with:
• Devotion in the heart
• Respect in speech
• Calm and mindful behaviour

2. Observe Sanctity & Silence

Silence helps maintain a spiritual atmosphere. Please refrain from:
• Loud conversations
• Shouting across halls
• Using mobile phones unnecessarily
• Disturbing prayers, rituals, or discourses

3. Modest & Respectful Attire

All devotees, both males and females, are requested to dress in a manner that reflects the sanctity of the Mandir.

Appropriate attire includes:
• Clothing that covers the shoulders and knees
• Modest, non-revealing, and non-transparent clothing
• Simple or traditional attire, especially during prayers and rituals

These guidelines uphold decorum, cultural sensitivity, and respect for the deities and fellow devotees.

4. Maintain Cleanliness

Cleanliness is a form of worship.
Devotees are kindly requested to help maintain the cleanliness, order, and respect for all in the Mandir premises.

5. Conduct in Darshan Areas

Within darshan areas, devotees are requested to:
• Stand patiently and move in an orderly manner
• Avoid rushing, pushing, or crowding
• Refrain from turning their back towards the deity unnecessarily
Do not touch the murtis or any sanctified items unless expressly permitted by priests or authorised personnel

6. Photography & Mobile Devices

To preserve sanctity:
• Photography may be restricted in certain areas
• Flash photography and recording of rituals may be prohibited
• Mobile phones must be kept on silent mode at all times

7. Respectful Behaviour

Devotees must refrain from:
• Harsh or vulgar language
• Arguments, confrontations, or disputes
• Debates during prayer hours
• Gossip or personal remarks

All are encouraged to maintain a spirit of peace, humility, and seva.

8. No Smoking or Intoxicants

The following are strictly prohibited on Mandir premises:
• Smoking
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• Vaping
• Any intoxicants

9. Offerings

All offerings within the Mandir are governed by established temple practices to preserve sanctity, cleanliness, and order.

Please note:
Outside offerings are not accepted within the Mandir premises
• This policy helps maintain the sanctity of worship and ensures offerings are handled appropriately
• Food and ritual items used within the Mandir are prepared and offered strictly in accordance with temple guidelines

Devotees who wish to make offerings or require further information are requested to contact the Temple Office or refer to the Priti Bhojan programme for the appropriate offering procedures.

10. Photography with Deities

Out of reverence, personal photography with murtis may be limited or regulated.
Devotees are encouraged to seek guidance from volunteers or temple staff if they are unsure.

11. Respect Priests & Volunteers

Devotees are requested to follow the instructions given by:
• Priests
• Volunteers
• Members of the Management Committee

Their seva ensures order, safety, and harmony within the Mandir.

12. Managing Children

Children are warmly welcomed in the Mandir. Parents and guardians are requested to:
• Supervise children at all times
• Ensure children do not run, shout, or disrupt prayers and rituals
• Guide children to behave respectfully, especially in darshan and prayer areas
• Be mindful of safety near steps, sanctums, and crowded spaces

These measures help maintain a peaceful environment for all devotees.

13. Temple Property

Temple facilities are built and maintained through devotees’ offerings.
Devotees are requested to:
• Avoid damaging temple property
• Use facilities responsibly
• Respect event layouts, decorations, and arrangements

14. Photography, Media & Publications

Any media coverage, livestreaming, recording, or publication within the Mandir requires prior approval from Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kuala Lumpur (SDSKL).

15. Right of the Mandir to Enforce Guidelines

To protect the sanctity, safety, and harmony of the Mandir, Lakshmi Narayan Mandir reserves the right to refuse entry, restrict access, or request any individual to leave the premises if these guidelines are not observed or if behaviour is deemed disruptive, inappropriate, or disrespectful.

All decisions taken by authorised temple representatives are made in the interest of maintaining a peaceful and sacred environment for all devotees.
